68054 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Why has the Minister indicated she wants to licence 15 online gambling operators, and what , if any, are the risks of harm associated with that number?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I have chosen to allow up to 15 licences for online casino gambling in order to provide sufficient market choice for consumers and support channelling into the regulated market. I have been advised that setting the number of licences too low would likely result in a larger unregulated market, which poses a greater risk of harm to New Zealanders.
