68016 (2024). Scott Willis to the Minister responsible for RMA Reform: Why was the proposed Project Kea, which was initially earmarked for Environmental Court review, added to the government’s Fast track list?

Hon Chris Bishop: I refer the member to the Fast-Track Projects Advisory Group Report. Ministers considered a number of factors when making their decision, including whether we thought a project would deliver regionally or nationally significant benefits. Being involved in a standard RMA process does not render projects ineligible for consideration under the Fast-Track Approvals Bill.
