68011 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Does the Minister see risks in not regulating the online gambling market, if so, what are those risks?

Hon Brooke van Velden: There are significant risks in not regulating online casino gambling. Online casino gambling has increased in recent years and is currently unregulated. Some operators have no protections in place, such as age limits or minimum standards for harm minimisation. Without regulation, some online casino operators make it difficult for players to withdraw winnings from their account or refuse to pay out winnings at all.
