67993 (2024). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Transport: What modelling was undertaken by the New Zealand Transport Agency, if any, on the impact of the road safety objectives on deaths and serious injuries?
Hon Simeon Brown: NZTA advises that over 850,000 more alcohol breath tests were undertaken on our roads in 2023/24 compared to the previous year, saving 37 lives across the country. Alcohol and drugs are the highest contributing factor to fatal crashes on our roads, and the Government has released targeted actions to improve road safety by focusing on these highest contributing factors.
