67973 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Climate Change: Did the Ministerial advisory panel reviewing New Zealand’s biogenic methane science and 2050 target proactively reach out to any stakeholders to submit evidence, if so, who were these stakeholders, listed in alphabetical order?
Hon Simon Watts: The Methane Science and Targets review terms of reference allows for the Ministerial Advisory Panel to engage with relevant experts if they choose to.
The terms of reference requests that a process is provided for interested parties to submit evidence. This has been enabled through the Ministry for the Environment’s website at: https://environment.govt.nz/what-government-is-doing/areas-of-work/climate-change/emissions-reductions/emissions-reduction-targets/review-of-methane-science-and-target/.
The Methane Science and Targets review is an independent process, and the Ministerial Advisory Panel is still undertaking their work to develop a draft report.
