67945 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Housing
Written Question
Published date: 20 Nov 2024
67945 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Housing: What written advice, if any, has the Minister received about selling state houses by title and date?
Hon Chris Bishop: When we came to office, we were advised by Treasury that Kāinga Ora was forecasting to sell 10,200 state houses in the next few years just to balance their books. This was clearly unacceptable.
This Government is deeply concerned about the state of Kāinga Ora’s books, which is why we commissioned, and are now acting on, the Independent Review of Kāinga Ora by Sir Bill English.
We are focused on turning around Kāinga Ora’s underperformance and making it financially viable again.
I refer the Member to the table.
