67900 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Minister for Children: Further to reply 63873 (2024), did the official or employee who used low-level force against a young person at the military style academy face any consequences for this use of low-level force; if not, why not; if yes, what were the consequences and what was the rationale behind them?
Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that all uses of force in residences are reviewed to determine if they were appropriate or not, in accordance with the Oranga Tamariki (Residential Care) Regulations 1996, standard operating procedures and policy. I am further advised that the use of force referred to by the member was reviewed and was found to be appropriate, therefore the staff member did not face any consequences.
