67888 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What contact, if any, has there been with homeschooling whānau as at 17 October 2024 that have not returned a Statutory Declaration for the 2024/1 period (January 1st - June 30th) yet?

Hon Erica Stanford: None, in relation to their declarations. Under section 38 of the Education and Training Act 2020, families who hold a current exemption to home educate their children have no legal obligation to return the Statutory Declaration to the Ministry. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 67889 (2024).
