Hon Shane Jones: The Hauraki Gulf / Tīkapa Moana Marine Protection Bill is of high interest to fisheries stakeholders, and it has been raised with me many times at meetings, events and visits since I became Minister for Oceans and Fisheries. I have had the following meetings with the commercial fishing industry, where part of the meeting specifically focused on Hauraki Gulf Marine Protection: Seafood New Zealand,13 December 2023, 13 February 2024 and 23 August 2024 NZ Federation of Commercial Fishermen, 18 March 2024 Round table meeting with various commercial fishers, 19 September 2024 Given the considerable resources required, I do not believe it is in the public interest to collate information on every meeting, event and/or visit at which the Hauraki Gulf / Tīkapa Moana Marine Protection Bill may have been raised.
