67811 (2024). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister of Health: What steps, if any, will the Ministry take to address the funding allocation for public health services, given the statement by the Public Health Communication Centre director, Professor Michael Baker, in the Radio New Zealand article Cuts Looming for 'Critical' Public Health Services, that the National Public Health Service currently receives only approximately 1.5 percent of the health budget, and "that is not enough"?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: The allocation of health funding must always take into account a range of issues, priorities, and needs. I welcome Health New Zealand’s strong focus on improving its performance to get better health outcomes from available funding across all of its work.
