Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the quarter April to June 2024 to implement the recommendation ‘Explore the role of non-hospital follow-up; for example, the role of optometry in follow-up for some ocular conditions’ as part of Te Whatu Ora Planned Care Taskforce Reset and Restore Plan?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand engaged with the national Eye Health clinical network to establish a multidisciplinary working group to look at a range of pathway options, including how professions such as optometrists can support access to care.
