66512 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What Cabinet decisions, if any, were made about the funding of Te Ahu o Te Reo Māori before 2024?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that, in May 2020, Cabinet approved funding of $200 million over four years for the Supporting Māori Learners and Te Reo Māori post COVID-19 initiative as part of the COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund. Te Ahu o Te Reo Māori was funded through this initiative and received ongoing outyear funding of $27.922 million per year. In August 2024, Cabinet approved the decision to reprioritise Te Ahu o Te Reo Māori onwards for the Plan for Tackling Maths Achievement from 2024/25 onwards. Therefore, there is no outyears funding for Te Ahu o Te Reo Māori.
