66502 (2024). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister of Immigration: What briefings, if any, has the Minister received on how the National Occupation List scheme will address current labour market shortages?

Hon Erica Stanford: I have not received any briefings yet specifically regarding possible impacts of the new National Occupation List (NOL) on labour market shortages. I have however been informed that the NOL is expected to allow more frequent updates to occupations, provide better representation of important sectors in the NZ economy and labour market, greater visibility of occupations that are on INZ's Green List that do not currently have a dedicated ANZSCO code – for example Endodontists, and better data to inform current policy and decision-making on skill gaps and growing skills needed across the labour market.
