66496 (2024). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister of Statistics: What consultations, if any, were undertaken with industry stakeholders, unions, or other relevant parties prior to the announcement to replace the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) with the new National Occupation List scheme to ensure that the new scheme aligns with the current needs of New Zealand's labour market and immigration policy objectives?
Hon Andrew Bayly: I am advised that Stats NZ undertook a public consultation on 'The future of occupation classifications in Aotearoa' New Zealand between 15 July to 9 August 2024, receiving a total of 90 submissions, including 23 from government agencies, 37 from industry representatives and Workforce Development Councils, 27 from businesses, 2 from academia and 1 from the public. Stats NZ have also worked closely with labour market agencies prior to and during consultation. Stats NZ discussed the consultation findings with Labour Market Deputy Chief Executives on 6 September 2024.
