66439 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: How many vetting requests, if any, have Police recieved from Australian police jurisdictions for constabulary staff between 28 November 2023 to date, broken down by the number of constabulary staff, if any, who have since resigned after having a vetting check?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that between 28 November 2023 and 14 October 2024, Police has received 320 vetting requests from Australian Police agencies. In the same period 73 of these employees have left New Zealand Police.
Further, I refer the Member to this press release from Police: https://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/police-prepare-welcome-larger-wings-application-numbers-soar
Information on applications to join Australian agencies is collected when the Australian agency requests an integrity check from New Zealand Police. Therefore, the numbers in these reports relate to individual applications not necessarily individual people. For example, if an individual has applied to several Australian agencies they would be counted against each agency.
