66388 (2024). Hon Peeni Henare to the Minister of Defence: Following the recent sinking of the HMNZS Manawanui, is the Minister now considering closer aligning our Defence capabilities with Australia, as per recent comments from Hon Richard Marles on Q&A on Sunday 6 October?

Hon Judith Collins: The Australia-New Zealand Leaders’ Meeting 2024 Joint Statement of 16 August 2024 announced that the Prime Ministers jointly decided to prioritise combined defence procurement as an enabler of interoperability. The sinking of the HMNZS Manawanui has not affected this decision.
