66361 (2024). Helen White to the Minister for Small Business and Manufacturing: What, if anything, is the Minister doing in response to an 81% increase in the cost of late payments to small businesses, costing businesses more that $827 million a year, compared to $ 465 million in 2021?
Hon Andrew Bayly: I have:
• required central government departments to publicly report their payment times on a quarterly basis
• worked with the Minister for Economic Development on a new Government Procurement Rule that will require government agencies to pay their bills faster, and (as above) to make their payment times transparent
• encouraged BusinessNZ to progress a voluntary commitment on payment times for the private sector
• worked with a wide range of NZ businesses to encourage use of eInvoicing, which helps move money around the economy faster, and enables faster payments, by removing the need to email and manually process PDF invoices.
