Hon Chris Penk: I have received advice that remote inspections may not be suited to some types of building work or inspections, such as where physical testing is required, or complex work where it might be harder to identify issues remotely. MBIE is currently undertaking broad public consultation on options to increase the use of remote inspections and published a discussion document on 2 October 2024 which seeks feedback about the suitability of remote inspections for different types of inspections and building work.
