66337 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister for Building and Construction: How, if at all, can the building and construction sector make submissions "on options to replace the current Building Consent Authority system"?
Hon Chris Penk: Submissions on “options to replace the current Building Consent Authority system” can be made by anyone including the building and construction sector when public consultation starts next year. Between now and the end of the year MBIE are speaking to people across the sector who have the skills and knowledge to contribute to developing the options to reform building consent authorities that will be publicly consulted on in 2025. For those in the building and construction sector who would like to contribute or have questions, an MBIE inbox has been set up by officials at BCAReform@mbie.govt.nz which I encourage the sector to use. BCA reform is in the very early stages and there will be multiple opportunities for the building and construction sector to have their say and help shape the reforms.
