Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that the number of serious and persistent youth offenders broken down by month is not available. In order to accurately report against Government Target 3, the data reported captures the total serious and persistent young offenders over the 12-month period prior. This ensures each serious and persistent young offender is counted once over that period and provides more accurate reporting. This data is available up to end of August 2024. For the last 12 months, the number of children and young people with serious and persistent offending behaviour was as follows: September 2023 - 1,108 October 2023 - 1,115 November 2023 - 1,125 December 2023 - 1,109 January 2024 - 1,106 February 2024 - 1,108 March 2024 - 1,100 April 2024 - 1,117 May 2024 - 1,104 June 2024 - 1,073 July 2024 - 1,038 August 2024 - 1,023
