66287 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: What was the "experience as a legislator" of Dr Rainbow referred to in paragraph 10 of the document headed "Human Rights Commission" of 7 June 2024; did this factor mean that the Minister considered he had "knowledge of New Zealand law, the law of other countries, and international law, on human rights, and of New Zealand’s obligations under international instruments on human rights" under s 12(c) of the Human Rights Act?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: The advice presented to me that Dr Rainbow has experience as a legislator was incorrect but was not instrumental in me forming a view about Dr Rainbow’s knowledge of New Zealand law, the law of other countries, and international law, on human rights, and of New Zealand’s obligations under international instruments on human rights.
