66210 (2024). Cushla Tangaere-Manuel to the Minister of Transport: What metrics, if any, will the Minister use to measure the success of the funding assistance provided for cyclone recovery in Hawke’s Bay?

Hon Simeon Brown: All requests for NIWE funding prepared by councils include evidence that the funding requested will assist in the recovery from damage caused by the Cyclone Gabrielle and/or Auckland anniversary flooding. As part of the approval process the sites and proposed solutions are reviewed by an NZTA investment advisor and site visits are carried out as necessary. The NZTA is continuing to work with Hawke’s Bay councils to ensure that all funding needed to deliver a programme in 2024/25 is available to councils. Councils are ultimately responsible for the delivery of their recovery projects and are accountable to their communities for ensuring successful outcomes are achieved through this investment.
