66204 (2024). Rawiri Waititi to the Minister of Health: What measures, if any, has the government put in place to support hospitals to work and provide care in a safe manner?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: This government appropriated $31 million over four years in Budget 2024 for increased security at emergency departments, to ensure safety for patients and staff. Additionally, the government delivered a $5.7 million boost to emergency department security over the 2023/24 summer period, which allowed Health NZ to deploy additional security personnel across 33 facilities during the holiday season.
