66113 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: Is the Minister leading a review looking at policy options for regulating lobbying activities; is so what progress has been made on that review?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: In April 2023 the Ministry of Justice was directed to lead two measures to support greater transparency around lobbying at Parliament: - supporting “third-party” lobbyists who lobby on behalf of others to develop a voluntary code of conduct; and - leading a review of the policy options for regulating lobbying activities I have received a briefing on the work on a voluntary code, which I am currently considering. Further work on lobbying regulation will be considered alongside the Government’s other priorities.
