64965 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 on the first phase: ‘measuring clinical outcomes from existing data collections’, of developing Quality Performance Indicators (QPIs) for prostate cancer as discussed in the Cancer Action Plan 2019 - 2029?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during this quarter April to June 2024 no progress was made because work has moved beyond this action. I am advised that the Prostate Cancer Quality Improvement Report, which reports data from years 2016 to 2018 for five QPIs, was published in 2021. With the publication of each QPI report, the Cancer Control Agency expects districts to review their performance and, where unwarranted variation is identified, take action to improve their performance and patient outcomes. The variation noted in our reports will also help guide national quality improvement programmes. With respect to the Cancer Action Plan 2019 - 2029, I am advised that during this quarter the Cancer Control Agency commenced a process to consider the next phase of actions to be undertaken for the remainder of the ten year timeframe of the plan.
