64763 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Housing: Have the Government's priority locations been communicated to Kāinga Ora, and if so, what are the locations and the rationale for these locations?

Hon Chris Bishop: Yes, myself and Hon Nicola Willis as the Responsible Ministers for Kāinga Ora wrote to the Chair on 14 August 2024 to outline detailed delivery expectations around Social Housing for the next two financial years. These locations have been identified as priorities as they align with the goal of reducing emergency housing in the regions given the locations of already contracted places and the allocation framework principles for Budget 2024 places for CHPs. The priority locations are: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, East Coast (Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay), Taranaki, Central, Wellington, West Coast/Tasman, Canterbury, Southern.
