64705 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Space: Is the Minister aware that the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command has a missile defense battery with radar in Israel and if so, will this prohibit further launches from New Zealand and if not, why not?
Hon Judith Collins: The presence or not of a specific piece of military equipment belonging to another country in a third country is not related to New Zealand’s domestic regulatory process for space launch. National interest for payload permit applications under the Outer Space and High-altitude Activities Act 2017 is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
