Hon Simon Watts: Officials advise the fiscal impacts of finalising the Commissioner’s draft interpretative view are unclear because limited information is currently available on the impact of the interpretation. However, in broad terms officials expect the overall impact of the Commissioner settling on a view would be fiscally positive, as taxpayers will no longer be able to adopt a range of GST positions based on least GST cost to them.
