63948 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries: What advice, if any, has the Minister or his office received around the Otago set net fishers’ request that the Otago Fishing Related Mortality Limit be reviewed?

Hon Shane Jones: I received a briefing on 19 December 2023, which noted Otago set net fishers’ concerns regarding the setting of a Fishing-Related Mortality Limit of two for Otago and the process by which this limit was determined. This advice concluded that there is no new scientific information to support a review of the existing Fishing-Related Mortality Limit.
