63943 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries: Will there be a reduction in the amount or frequency of observers on fishing boats as a result of fishing industry levy cuts?

Hon Shane Jones: There will be a reduction in the frequency of observer coverage, mainly as a result of the introduction of on-board cameras, as on-board cameras will provide the primary method of verification on these vessels. The reduction in levies for observers reflects this change.
