63900 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: Why did she not report “the shops that provide illicit tobacco” in South Auckland that she was aware of to the Police?

Hon Casey Costello: Police is not the appropriate place to report this. Specific examples that I am aware of or that are reported to me are dealt with appropriately. I note that detection and enforcement of illicit tobacco trade is a significant priority and that work is underway to develop fit-for-purpose legislation and regulations for tobacco and nicotine products.
