63753 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Does the Minister agree with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists New Zealand chairman Dr Hiran Thabrew that there has been a hiring freeze as he said that "we have been impacted directly - we’ve lost a couple of people who wanted to join our team, so that’s not true", and if he does agree, how would he address these concerns, if at all?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that the Government is committed to putting more resources into frontline mental health and addiction services. As I have said publicly, I have made my expectation clear that recruitment and training for the frontline mental health workforce continues.
