62649 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 to ‘Nationally agree on the scope and distribution of specialist cancer and cancer surgical services’ under Outcome 4: New Zealanders have better cancer survival, supportive care and end-of-life care, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that in quarter April to June 2024 the Cancer Control Agency continued work to develop models of care for highly complex and low volume surgical services. Models of care for hepato-pancreatico-biliary (HBP) surgery, oesophagogastric (throat) surgery and head and neck surgery have been developed, and the Cancer Control Agency is currently working with Health New Zealand to develop an implementation approach with clinical leads.
