Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 to ‘Improve access to travel and accommodation for people affected by cancer’ under Outcome 4: New Zealanders have better cancer survival, supportive care and end-of-life care, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: On 26 March, I announced that new reimbursement rates for the National Travel Assistance Scheme would take effect for appointments attended after April 1, including for those people affected by cancer who need to travel long distances to access specialist care.
