Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 to ‘Increase uptake of advance care plans’ under Outcome 4: New Zealanders have better cancer survival, supportive care and end-of-life care, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, the advance care planning programme continued to train and support managers responsible for introducing advance care planning at district level. I am further advised that Health New Zealand expects these actions could result in an increase in the uptake of advance care plans, including for cancer treatments.
