62475 (2024). Shanan Halbert to the Minister of Police: Further to his letter to me dated 23rd September, what are the agencies that Police are proactively working with to identify and mitigate risk to the Rainbow community, by agency title?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Police engages and works with many agencies and groups on a number of different initiatives to help mitigate risk to the Rainbow Community on both a national and local level through the Diversity Liaison Officers network. The following are reflective of initiatives that are led at a national level:
• Police engages with the Cross Agency Rainbow Network (CARN) and attend their monthly meeting.
• Police is working with the Law Commission to help manage potential risk during their 10-week public consultation on their Issues Paper relating to the HR Act 1993 and explicit protections for transgender and non-binary people, and those with innate variations of sex characteristics.
• Police are working with Te Whatu Ora to help manage risk for their transgender health providers for when the MOH puberty blocker evidence brief and the gender affirming healthcare guidelines are released.
• Police are working with the Burnett Foundation and Grindr to add joint safety messing onto the Grindr app following reports of people using fake online profiles and arranging to meet people through the Grindr ap, assaulting or threatening them, videoing and loading onto social media.
