62431 (2024). Kahurangi Carter to the Minister for Disability Issues: Are all people with an autism diagnosis eligible to be assessed for support services, such as supported living, respite and carer support?
Hon Louise Upston: I am advised that assessments around disability support services are completed by Needs Assessment Service Coordination agencies (NASCs). Individuals who want to learn whether they are eligible for any disability support services should contact their local NASC for information and advice that takes into account their personal circumstances. A diagnosis of autism alone is not the only criteria to meet eligibility for services. The allocation of services is dependent on assessed disability need.
