62411 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Has the government investigated the reports regarding the role of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in funding the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the ongoing war in Sudan; if not, will he commit to an appropriate enquiry into the UAE's role in the financing of the RSF enabling the ongoing war in Sudan?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: New Zealand has repeatedly called for an end to the conflict in Sudan, and for safe and unhindered access for humanitarian assistance. In line with this position, New Zealand has co-sponsored a resolution on the human rights situation in Sudan, to be considered for adoption during the 57th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva. Among other things, the resolution calls for the extension of the mandate of the independent international fact-finding mission for the Sudan for a further year.
