Rt Hon Winston Peters: Advice on the Israel-Hamas conflict has from the outset taken account of the risk of escalation elsewhere in the region, including the conflict between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah. The Government is closely monitoring the situation in Lebanon and Israel. We are deeply concerned by the violence and loss of life and urge an immediate ceasefire. This is a rapidly evolving situation on which the Government has sought and will continue to seek advice from officials. Given the connection between the conflict in Gaza and the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which has been affecting communities in both southern Lebanon and northern Israel since 7 October 2023, I am advised that is it not possible to provide a comprehensive answer to this question within the timeframe for answers to Written Questions.
