62255 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: Was there an oversight that required that the Gangs Bill be recommitted to the Committee of the Whole House to clarify the definition of public place with Amendment Paper 111; if so what was it?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: No. I am advised that while preparing for implementation, Police considered how the insignia offence would apply to displays occurring within a vehicle in a public place. Police raised a concern about a possible ambiguity in the Bill, which the Amendment Paper resolved conclusively.
