62226 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Tertiary Education and Skills: What advice, if any, has the Minister received on the costs of disestablishing Te Pūkenga, listed by title and date?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I have received some preliminary advice as outlined in the attached table on the possible costs related to the disestablishment of Te Pūkenga and establishing independent institutes of technology and polytechnics in the aide memoires. However, detailed advice on costs is subject to ongoing work on the financial viability of Te Pūkenga’s business divisions, and final decisions on changes to the vocational education system which I intend to take to Cabinet in due course.
