Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries: Will the Government adopt an encounter protocol and move-on rule to protect vulnerable marine ecosystems and protected species within New Zealand's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), ensuring compatibility with the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO) rules as outlined in the Conservation and Management Measures (CMMs) 03-2023, and if not, why not?

Hon Shane Jones: No. Management measures do not need to be identical to ensure compatibility.
