61894 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Justice: What advice has the Minister received, if any, on Youth Justice by title and date?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: The Minister for Children is responsible for decisions on Youth Justice, and Oranga Tamariki is the responsible agency. The Minister is working closely with me, the Minister of Police and other relevant Ministers to progress the Government’s commitments. The Ministry of Justice provides me with background information to support my consideration of Oranga Tamariki’s advice to Minister Chhour. I refer the Member to attachment 1. I also regularly receive updates on this work in my weekly report from the Ministry of Justice. I have received 2 further documents, but I believe it would prejudice the orderly and effective conduct of government decision making processes to release the titles at this time.
