61628 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Education: What current policies, if any, does the Minister's department, if any, have on working from home or flexible working arrangements?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that their current flexible working policy is publicly available and can be accessed at the following link: https://assets.education.govt.nz/public/Documents/our-work/information-releases/responses-to-Official-Information-Act-requests/1301197-Appendix-A-Flexible-Work-Policy.pdf
I am advised by the Education Review Office (ERO) that all working from home arrangements must be agreed in advance with the ERO manager and staff member. These must be documented and reviewed at regular intervals.
I am advised by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) that it has a policy for flexible working practices with the purpose of:
• Supporting a flexible, responsive and sustainable approach to managing the contracted hours of work whilst ensuring that business outputs and needs continue to be met
• Giving effect to legislation regarding flexible working arrangements
• Aligning NZQA flexible work practices with the Public Service Commission guidance and resources for flexible-work-by-default.
