60232 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, was made in the quarter April to June 2024 to ‘Implement workforce development initiatives to grow the Māori and Pacific workforce’ under Outcome 1: New Zealanders have a system that delivers consistent and modern cancer care, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, the Te Pitomata Grants programme saw 1218 Māori Health Scholarships awarded across categories including undergraduate, post graduate, and rongoa. I am further advised that in the quarter, the Pacific Health Scholarships programme approved 319 scholarships. Nursing accounted for the largest portion of approved scholarships.
