60224 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, was made in the quarter April to June 2024 to ‘Develop advice on how equitable access and wider use of clinical trials can be achieved’ under Outcome 1: New Zealanders have a system that delivers consistent and modern cancer care, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, progress was made to strengthen collaboration between Health New Zealand and the Cancer Control Agency, Health Research Council, Ministry of Health, Iwi Māori Partnership Boards, and universities. Achievements included: • Developing standardised contracting arrangements for clinical trials and third party contracting. This will speed up study approval processes, and better define regional delegated authorities. • Implementing a process to deliver high quality national biostatistics support to Health NZ clinical researchers.
