60168 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Associate Minister of Housing
Written Question

60168 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Associate Minister of Housing: How many of the 1770 households that have left emergency housing are in public housing, receiving the accommodation supplement, or are receiving other supports administered by the Ministry of Social Development, broken down by the type of support they are receiving?
Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that between December 2023 and August 2024, the total number of households living in emergency housing (EH) and contracted emergency housing (CEH) has fallen from 3,141 to 1,365. However, formal reporting on where people go when they leave EH is still under development. Data covering the period December 2023 to August 2024 will be available in due course.
Officials are working hard to develop official reporting on EH exits, but that will take time as it requires linking information from multiple systems, agencies and other organisations
This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 60167 (2024) and 60168 (2024).
