60116 (2024). Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan to the Minister for Ethnic Communities: Following the Minister’s answer to written question 54101(2024), which ethnic communities and/or orgnaisations are being consulted, as part of the engagement, by names?

Hon Melissa Lee: I understand from the Ministry for Ethnic Communities that it is not publicly naming which communities it is engaging with to maintain trust with communities and keep them safe. Naming may worsen community experiences of foreign interference. Unwanted attention from foreign states can make communities feel unsafe and infringe on their rights in New Zealand. This can include harassment, threats, and assault to intimidation. It’s important that, as this vital work continues, the Ministry for Ethnic Communities is able to keep the communities it is engaging with safe.
