60097 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Education: What specific resources or funding will be allocated to support the implementation of the Māori Education Action Plan, especially in areas where Māori students have been historically underserved?

Hon Erica Stanford: I recently announced that I have established a Māori Education Advisory Group that will develop a Māori Education Action Plan, which will be framed by my six education priorities and draw on the existing Ka Hikitia - Ka Hāpaitia and Tau Mai Te Reo strategies. I’m also committed to working with Te Matakahuki, leaders and representative groups of Kaupapa Māori education, to identify shared priorities. All costs for existing initiatives will be met within existing baselines. Any new initiatives that may be developed will be subject to normal Budget processes at the appropriate time.
