60085 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Does the Minister agree with the Cure Kids State of Child Health in Aotearoa New Zealand report 2023 that Tamariki Māori were more likely to have emotional concerns and/or behavioural problems but less likely to access specialist care or be hospitalised for mental health concerns, especially if they were experiencing socioeconomic deprivation; if so, what, if anything, will he do to address this?
Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that the Government is committed to improving mental health outcomes for young New Zealanders. I am further advised that the Government is investing in additional service capacity for children and young people such as Gumboot Friday and the sustainable roll out of Mana Ake in Hawke’s Bay and Tairawhiti.
